As of May 10, 2025, the reconstruction of McLean Boulevard in South Elgin is actively progressing.

  • Active Construction Zone: The segment between Spring Street and Sunbury Road is under construction. Traffic is limited to one lane in each direction, both operating on the west side of McLean Boulevard. The east side is currently being reconstructed. US Rt 20 (Lake St) & IL Rt 31 Update

Proposed Route 20 Project In Kane County To Be Discussed At Hearing ...

As of May 2025, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is actively working on the bridge replacement project at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 (Lake Street) and Illinois Route 31 in Elgin.

  • Scope: The project involves replacing the existing bridge carrying IL 31 over US 20 with a new, wider structure. Additional improvements include:
    • Widening interchange ramps
    • Installing new LED lighting and modernizing traffic signals
